Hyperbaric oxygen therapy involves direct inhalation of oxygen under elevated pressure, which causes oxygen to also dissolve in plasma, lymph and cerebrospinal fluid. As a result, the treatment has the property of penetrating into unblooded areas of the body.
A standard treatment in a hyperbaric chamber lasts 60 minutes.
